Doctors on Demand Celebrates 13th Spot on the AFR Fast 100 List

Doctors on Demand is proud to join the 2021 Australian Financial Review Fast 100 list at #13.

Doctors on Demand is proud to join the 2021 Australian Financial Review Fast 100 list at #13.

The AFR’s Fast Starters list celebrates the fastest growing companies in Australia with telehealth, online retail and property benefiting from the pandemic environment.

Doctors on Demand’s 138.5% compound annual growth rate for the 2019-21 financial years was a testament to Chief Executive Kirsty Garrett’s vision for disrupting the Australian primary care landscape.

“We were first in market with a 24/7 online GP service and have established service partnerships for tailored online healthcare for employers, insurers and health service providers,” she says.

While the pandemic diverted patients to telehealth services, Doctors on Demand was “well-positioned to respond to the increased demand…with a secure accessible online video consultation and booking platform with trained doctors providing consultations 24/7.”

Changes in Government funding accelerated the surge in demand for online healthcare with fast-tracked electronic prescriptions and an initial Medicare rebate.

Garrett says these measures placed patients at the helm of their healthcare.

“Our philosophy has always been to place the patient in control of their health and make it easy and convenient to access quality care regardless of their postcode or time of day,” she says.

“Having created a dominant position in the market for online doctors and online prescriptions, building a patient base in excess of 150 000 and partnering with over 3 800 pharmacies, our strategy is transitioning from episodic virtual care to address chronic disease and wellness.”

Doctors on Demand’s focus on preventative health and wellness spurred the launch of targeted health services including sleep and fatigue management, fertility and smoking cessation.

This expansion rests on the foundations built by company founders John Martin and John Neilson of accessible and tailored healthcare for patients across metro, regional and rural areas.

Garrett envisions further rapid growth for Doctors on Demand.

“Our goal is to continue to build quality clinical capacity, improving our patient experience and support quality of care through technology.”
