Doctors on Demand Places Sixth At 2021 SmartCompany Smart50 Awards

Doctors on Demand has placed sixth at the 2021 virtual SmartCompany Smart50 Awards.

The national Smart50 Awards recognise and celebrate the fastest growing small and medium-sized enterprises.

Chief Executive Kirsty Garrett acknowledged the magnitude of recognition during a pandemic.

“How exciting it was for our team this afternoon…coming in at number six. [It was] great to see telehealth companies like ours being recognised for growth and innovation.” SmartCompany received more than 300 applications from small and medium-sized enterprises.

Doctors on Demand experienced 497% growth in average daily general practitioner video consults since before the pandemic with $3.6 million in revenue – an achievement derived from a 160 000-patient base and partnerships with 3 800 pharmacies.

The company was founded by pharmacists John Martin and John Neilson who pioneered a 24/7 telehealth service and software in 2015.

This innovation meant patients in regional or remote areas could access healthcare without lengthy wait times or commutes, and metropolitan general practitioners could fill gaps in their clinic schedules. Doctors on Demand’s offering comprises video consultations, online prescriptions, medical certificates and referrals.

Video consultations increased by 130% in the past 12 months and monthly website visitors increased by 66% to 65 000.

In the business-to-business sector, partners and employers benefit from the white-labelled telehealth offerings.

Doctors on Demand has ventured into targeted wellness initiatives in sleep and fatigue management, fertility and smoking cessation.

With advancements in its software and patient offering, Doctors on Demand is eager to maintain its lead in the Australian telehealth landscape.
