Why has Westfund partnered with Doctors on Demand?

It’s part of Westfund’s ongoing commitment to providing health and wellbeing options to all members, regardless of their location.
Are your doctors registered in Australia?
All doctors consulting for Doctors on Demand are registered in Australia by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). All doctors are fully insured.
Is my online doctor appointment covered by Medicare?
For all consults, except where clearly specified, we are private fee only. In July 2020 the Government announced changes to Medicare rebates for telehealth; That is, if we have not seen a patient face-to-face within the previous 12 months we will not be able to offer Medicare rebates for most of our services. Being a fully online service, we are wholly unable to meet this criteria.

Am I eligible for fully covered GP consults?
Westfund members who have held Extras cover for at least six months are eligible.

Where can I find my membership number?
You can find your membership number on your digital membership card in the Westfund members app, or in Members online.
How many fully covered GP consults are available per policy?
Singles policy: One consult
Couples policy: Two consults
Family policy: Four consults
What happens after I’ve used my fully covered consult?
You can keep using Doctors on Demand through Westfund+ and get $5 off every standard consult. The discount applies automatically when you make an appointment via the booking links above.
I’m not eligible for fully covered GP consults. Can I still use the $5 discount as a Westfund member?
Yes! All Westfund members are eligible for a $5 discount on standard consults with Doctors on Demand. The discount will automatically apply when you book through the ‘Book now’ link above.
What can I use these consults for?
You can use your Doctors on Demand consults for everyday health concerns, prescriptions and repeats (where clinically appropriate), medical certificates, referrals to specialists, pathology or imaging or general health advice.
Important to know: Telehealth is not suitable to emergencies. If your situation is urgent or life-threatening, call 000 or go to your nearest emergency department.
When does this benefit renew? How long is the benefit available for?
As part of our Giveback for Good Health package, this benefit is available from 1 January to 30 June 2026 and does not renew.
Is my information secure?
Yes, Doctors on Demand uses encrypted secure technology. Your health information is kept confidential and only shared with your consent.
What information does Westfund receive about my appointment?
Westfund only received non-clinical data (e.g appointment time) to apply the benefit. We never receive your clinical information.
How quickly can I see a doctor?
Same day appointments are often available within the hour, including after-hours, weekends and public holidays.
Can I book for my child or family member?
Yes, you can book on behalf of dependants covered on your policy. You’ll be asked to confirm their details.
Can I book more than one consult for a single person?
Yes, if you’ve used your fully covered consult, you can still access the member discounted rate for all standard consults.
Do I have a choice of female or male doctor?
Yes, during the booking process you filter on practitioner gender to find the right doctor for you (subject to availability).
How do I reschedule or cancel an appointment?
Log in to your Doctors on Demand account to manage your appointment or contact the Patient Concierge Team.
Tip: if you do need to cancel, ensure you do so well in advance. No shows or late cancellations (within 24 hours of your appointment) will be considered a fully covered consult under your policy.
Do I need to provide anything to Westfund to claim this benefit?
No, you don’t need to do anything! Your benefit will be automatically processed by Westfund.
What device do I need?
A smartphone or computer with a camera, microphone and a stable internet connection is all that is required for your video consult. Headphones are recommended for privacy.
Can I get a workers compensation medical certificate through this service?
No, unfortunately you will need to arrange a face-to-face appointment with your local GP.
