Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know
Are your doctors registered in Australia?
All doctors consulting for Doctors on Demand are registered in Australia by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). All doctors are fully insured.
Do I have a choice of female or male doctors?
Yes. You can request a female or male doctor. (Please note this request is subject to availability and is not guaranteed).
Is my online doctor appointment covered by Medicare?
For all consults, except where clearly specified, we are private fee only. In July 2020 the Government announced changes to Medicare rebates for telehealth; That is, if we have not seen a patient face-to-face within the previous 12 months we will not be able to offer Medicare rebates for most of our services. Being a fully online service, we are wholly unable to meet this criteria.
See our pricing page for more information on what your private fee appointment will cost.
Can international tourists see a doctor online?
Yes, if you’re on holiday in Australia and need to speak to a doctor about a non-emergency issue such as medication or advice for an illness, or a script for a medication that you take regularly, you can speak to a doctor online via Doctors on Demand. You will need an Australian mobile number and need to be in Australia at the time of your appointment.
In order to receive an eScript, you can get an Individual Health Identifier (IHI) number from Services Australia.
