Doctors on Demand: Telehealth Videoconferencing

Doctors on Demand provides an affordable, secure, and easy to use system which helps make telehealth consultations readily available, and widely accessible to both patients and health professionals. Telehealth is where a patient and a health professional undertake a consultation via video conference. Health professionals use two main skills to diagnose most common medical conditions: looking and listening. Whilst video conferencing can never completely replace the need for face to face consultations, in many circumstances it can be an acceptable substitute that provides convenient and accessible health care delivery adhering to all clinical protocols without sacrificing quality or compromising patient safety. Our model gives health professionals a platform to deliver care in a more efficient and patient-centric way. It is the perfect solution for time-poor patients and those unable to readily access regular health services for urgent but non-emergency conditions for adults and children.

Your health professional can, through our platform, provide you with expert advice, and where necessary, prescriptions, referrals, and medical certificates. Registering on our service is easy and just like filling in the new client form at any health service. Once you've registered with us, you can log in and book an appointment at any time that suits you and use our Quick Script service for any prescription refills.

How does Doctors on Demand work?

Doctors on Demand provides a platform for conveniently making video conference appointments to speak with a health professional, on demand. Patients can find available health professionals that suit their needs by viewing their bio and schedule of fees and sorting a range of filters. E.g. QuickScript: Online Prescriptions and Medication

QuickScript is a convenient service that allows our patients to request a repeat prescription for a select range of medications they have used before, by simply completing an online assessment. An Australian registered doctor will review your online assessment and determine your suitability for the requested medicine within 24 hours. The assessment will gather the same information a GP would normally ask you in a face-to-face consultation. Depending on your suitability, the doctor will either contact you for further information or where appropriate write a prescription as requested.

You have the choice of having your prescription conveniently sent to your preferred local pharmacy for immediate collection, or dispensed by our Australian pharmacy partner for next day delivery if you wish.

After completing the assessment, the checkout fees include a $25 doctor consultation fee for your prescription, a prescription handling fee or delivery charge, and the cost for your medicine(s) if you would like your script dispensed and posted. The doctor must make the final assessment before your order is confirmed, so completing the assessment and checkout process does not guarantee you will receive the prescription or medicine. If the doctor thinks that you need a face-to-face consultation, you will receive a full refund and they will advise you to attend your local practice, or if suitable, book an online telehealth video conference appointment.

Benefits to you

Depending on your circumstances, QuickScript could be a cheaper, more convenient way of consulting a general practitioner for a prescription refill.

Think about the true cost of seeing a doctor - the time taken to; make an appointment at a time that suits, arrange time off work, travel to the medical centre, wait in the waiting room and then go to the pharmacy, it all adds up.

Now consider the convenience of completing a short online assessment in the comfort of your home or office and then having the option to pick up your prescription at your local pharmacy or have your medication posted directly to you.

Cost Summary

1. If you choose this option when selecting your product, we will remove the cost of the medicine. You then only pay for the doctor consultation fee and a prescription handling fee, but you will then have to pay for the cost of the medicine at your chosen pharmacy.

2. Guaranteed next business day delivery for orders placed before 10am within the Express Post delivery network only, dispatch from Brisbane.

We guarantee all medications dispensed from QuickScript are genuine medicines sourced from an Australian pharmacy.

For your privacy the transaction on your credit card statement will not mention any of the medicines you purchase.

Advantages to the Community

Due to the ageing population and the increasing pressure on the health workforce, every effort needs to be made to reduce the cost burden to the country. QuickScript provides an affordable and effective supplement to the traditional health care system. Patients will not have to wait for their appointment or travel a long distance incurring high expenses. Instead they can have their regular prescription and medicine(s) for an ongoing condition delivered at a low cost to both the individual and the community.

We believe that we can help deliver massive efficiencies to the health care system by unclogging the physical appointment process and improving access to the availability of GP's Australia wide.

If your prescription request is approved with repeats, you do not need to come back to the QuickScript website to fill those repeats. Repeats will not be issued at the time of supply of your medicine as the pharmacist needs to be in possession of the hard copy paper prescription to supply them.

If you asked for your prescription to be sent to your preferred local pharmacy, they will receive the paper prescription from the doctor within 7 days and you can make arrangements with your pharmacist to either keep your repeats on file or have them posted out to you.

If your prescription is to be dispensed by our partner pharmacy and delivered to you, the repeats will be posted to you by our pharmacy partner at no further charge when the hard copy prescription has been received from the doctor.

Repeats are always in the prescribing doctor's discretion and Doctors on Demand has no influence over the approval of Quickscript requests or the issue of repeats.  Our doctors use their professional judgment at all times keeping patient safety at the forefront.

Prescription Pricing

Each prescription listed on our site may display up to four different prices. Just like any retail pharmacy, the price you pay will depend on your Government entitlements. The four different price categories are: Private, PBS, Concession and Safety Net.

  1. Private
Selecting the Private price allows you to choose to have multiple quantities of your prescription supplied up to a maximum of three (3) times. No repeats will be issued and you will not receive Prescription Record Form stickers to count towards your Safety Net entitlement. Prescriptions not subsidised under the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) will only be available at the Private price. Receipts are always issued to enable you to claim a rebate through your Private Health Fund (if applicable).
  2. PBS (Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme)
By selecting this price option you will receive a PBS prescription with up to the maximum number of repeats at the doctor's discretion. These prices are only available to customers with a current Medicare card for medication subsidised under the PBS. Prescription Record Form stickers will be supplied to enable you to count towards your Safety Net entitlement.
  3. Concession
(Available for Pensioner, Health Care, and General Safety Net concession card holders). There may be government surcharges applied to certain original brand products, however we can substitute a generic equivalent if you wish. Please select a generic product from our product list if this is the case. Generic products are marked (generic). Please enter your concession card details when prompted to receive concession pricing. If you enter incorrect concession card details your order will not be processed for the concession price and you will receive a refund.
  4. Safety Net Entitlement
If you are a Concession card holder and your spending on PBS medication has reached a certain level during a calendar year, you will be eligible for a Safety Net Entitlement card. When qualified you will not pay for PBS prescriptions for the rest of the year (unless you require an original brand attracting a surcharge).

Items marked with *Auth require a government authority prescription. Some items which are subsidised under the PBS to treat special conditions require an Authority prescription (these items are denoted by *Auth). If you are not entitled to a government authority you will pay the private price.
